  • Confirm the business name and license number.

Option 4: Contact the Business Owner

In some cases, inaccurate information may simply be outdated information that can be corrected voluntarily by the business owner. If you believe a listing contains incorrect information. Consider contacting the business directly before filing a report.

Before You Submit A Report

Not every inaccurate listing is intentionally misleading. Business owners may move, change phone numbers, update web sites, or fail to update online listings promptly.

What Happens After A Report Is Submitted?

Once a report is submitted, Google reviews the information provided and compares it against its Business Profile policies and internal records. The review process can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks depending on the complexity of the issue and the volume of reports being processed.

Google may:

  • Remove the listing entirely if it is determined to violate Google Business Profile policies.
  • Suspend the listing until ownership or business information can be verified.
  • Require the business owner to provide additional documentation.
  • Correct inaccurate information on the listing.
  • Take no action if Google determines the listing complies with its policies.

Please note that submitting a report does not guarantee that a listing will be removed or modified. Google does not typically provide detailed updates regarding investigations, and in many cases the outcome may not be a visible immediately. For this reason, consumers are encouraged to submit accurate factual information, supported by verifiable evidence whenever possible.

The North County Plumbing Listing Transparency Project does not control Google’s review process and cannot guarantee any specific outcome. Our goal is simply to provide information, encourage transparency, and help consumers make informed decisions.
