Purpose of This Page

This page documents my firsthand experience employing Susanne Holle at Encinitas Plumbing from May 2021 through October 2025.

The information presented here is based upon my personal recollections, company records, emails, text messages, business documents, and events that I personally experienced. Its purpose is to preserve an accurate chronological account of my friendship with Susanne, her employment at Encinitas Plumbing, and the events that ultimately led to the end of her employment.

Where appropriate, this page links to supporting documents and related timelines so readers may evaluate the information for themselves.

How We First Met

I first met Susanne Holle in 2016 while I was working in the Oceanside Harbor area. We struck up a conversation and remained in contact, eventually developing what I believed to be a genuine friendship.

Over the next several years we spent time together socially on numerous occasions. We had dinner together, met for drinks, talked frequently, and remained friends through the years leading up to the COVID-19 pandemic.

By the time Encinitas Plumbing began growing to the point where I needed office support, I had known Susanne for approximately five years. I considered her one of my closest friends and believed she was someone I could trust both personally and professionally.

Why I Hired Susanne

When Encinitas Plumbing reached the point where I needed administrative help answering phones, scheduling appointments, communicating with customers, and organizing day-to-day office operations, Susanne was the first person I thought of.

Because of our longstanding friendship, I trusted her completely.

That trust was reflected in the level of responsibility I gave her after she joined the company. Susanne was provided administrator-level access to virtually every aspect of Encinitas Plumbing’s daily operations, including customer communications, scheduling systems, Jobber, company email accounts, and other administrative functions.

The only area I intentionally retained for myself was the company’s accounting records and bookkeeping. There was simply no operational need for anyone else to have unrestricted access to the financial records of the business.

Trust Beyond Encinitas Plumbing

My trust in Susanne extended beyond Encinitas Plumbing.

When I formed Bullies in Paradise, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to pit bull rescue, I invited Susanne to serve as the organization’s Secretary.

During that conversation she asked whether she would eventually have access to the organization’s financial records. I explained that if the organization grew to the point where there were books to maintain, that responsibility could become part of her role.

Looking back, these events are important because they illustrate the level of trust I placed in Susanne over a period of years. They also provide context for why the events described later on this page became so significant to me personally and professionally.
